Bacon May Die Weapons and Outfits: How Each Item Unlocks
Published · Updated · 2 min read

Most weapons in Bacon May Die are not bought blind or dropped at random. Each one has a lock tied to a counter on the Statistics screen, such as ranged kills, melee kills or total damage. When the counter reaches the target, the item opens. The figures below come from the item table in the web version on this site, so the mobile or Steam versions may differ a little.
Melee or ranged: what actually matters
The weapon shop says this itself: Melee weapons are mostly cosmetic and have little impact on gameplay. A Lightsaber looks different from a Bat, but don't expect it to change your run much. Guns are another story. Each one fires its own projectile (bullets, shotgun pellets, rockets, toast, bees, snake spit, ice shards), and some use more ammo per shot than others. When a gun runs dry the pig says Out of ammo!
Gun unlocks
| Gun | Unlocks at |
|---|---|
| Pistol | Available from the start |
| Revolver | 10 ranged kills |
| Uzi | 25 ranged kills |
| Shotgun | 50 ranged kills |
| Toaster | 100 ranged kills |
| Junkrat Gun | 150 ranged kills |
| Pirate Pistol | 15 grenade kills |
| Shuriken | 25 projectiles deflected |
| Bazooka | XP level 3 |
| Grinder | XP level 5 |
| Ak47 | 100 enemies defeated |
| Minigun | 200 enemies defeated |
| Ice Blaster | 250 kills in the Snow zone |
Melee unlocks
The Bat and the Sword are there from the start. Melee kills open the Mace (15), Guitar (50), Hammer (100), Bone (150), Katana (250) and Lightsaber (400). Total damage dealt opens the Rambo Knife (5,000), Cloud sword (10,000), Chainsaw (25,000) and Scythe (50,000). Some come from specific enemies or events instead:
- Pickaxe: defeat 10 Snowball enemies.
- Plunger: defeat 50 Skeletonlets.
- Wrench: beat the Stomper boss.
- Sausage: finish one daily mission.
- Crutch: use 3 revives.
- Surfboard, Knight Shovel and Dadao: complete 25, 35 and 100 levels.
Outfits and slots
The pig can be dressed in several slots, including Head, Eyes, Neck and Body. Your first trip to the outfit seller starts with a joke: It's dangerous to fight naked! Take one of these FREE hats! After that, most hats, glasses and outfits are bought with coins that enemies drop. A few have their own conditions:
- Pumpkin Suit: beat the Pumpkin boss.
- Aviator Hat: defeat 3 Pilots.
- Eye Patch: steal 3 vehicles.
- Christmas Lights: defeat a Christmas Tree enemy.
- Grad Cap: play the tutorial.
If you run short of coins, the shop may offer coins for watching an ad. That is optional and does not affect the stat-based locks above.
Where you change gear
Gear is not picked from a menu between rounds. You change it by walking up to NPCs in the level. The weapon seller (Select a melee weapon, gun and grenade!) and the outfit seller (Dress up for the fights ahead!) both open when you stand next to them and press UP.
